The University of Alberta receives research grants and other funds from
numerous organizations that have an interest in the topics discussed on this
website, including at least one completely hands-off grant from the
smokeless tobacco industry (from U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company),
numerous grants from pharmaceutical companies, numerous grants from
anti-tobacco advocacy organizations (private and governmental), and
funds from organizations that pay for the costs of smoking-caused
diseases. The research of the contributors to this site has benefited
from many of these grants in various ways; in particular, ASTER is
partially supported by the hands-off USSTC grant. No funder has played
any role in the creation, design, or content of this website, which is
entirely the product of University of Alberta faculty and other academic
staff.
