Vapourization & Tobacco?

Have there been any studies directed at vapourization (heating material to roughly 300 degrees celsius to boil off nicotine without creating airborne carbons)? The lighter powered vapour genie works to a degree but there's sometimes a "roasting" of tobacco and it requires constant refilling. Personally I prefer snus since the required time to experience is quicker and much less labour intensive.

Vaporizors such as the Volcano were developed to reduce the harmful
effects of smoking that accompanied the ingestion of medicinal
marijuana. And they appear to be somewhat successful. However, there
has been little research regarding using these products to smoke
tobacco.
Products like Eclipse which "vaporize" tobacco within a cigarette-like
form have met with a mixed reception from both researchers and
smokers. Since they produce less smoke and fewer free radicals, they
should in principle be less harmful than smoking regular cigarettes.
However, because the nicotine levels are so low, people tend to inhale
them differently than they normally would, taking the smoke in deeper
and holding it longer to get the effect and thus negating the benefit
they could get if they smoked these in their usual fashion.
Even if these are safer than regular cigarettes, since the lungs are still being
exposed to nontrivial amounts of toxic constituents, this form
of taking nicotine is still probably quite a bit worse than using
smokeless tobacco. As we said, we do not know this area well enough
to claim certainty but what we do know is that even a little bit of
smoke is worse than none.
I hope that answers your question.
